What better way to celebrate entering your 30s than to hold a ‘funeral for your youth’?
Everyone can relate to Mila Blatova, who is pictured in all black, surrounded by black balloons, ominous three-zero inflatables, complete will black lipstick and a solemn stare.
A 30th birthday is a scary time for many, it marks the beginning of being a ‘proper proper’ adult, and for Mila it was the death of her youth, and wow did she mourn it well.
Speaking to UNILAD, Mila explained where the inspiration for her photo came from:
“My idea came from not wanting to leave my 20s and acknowledge that I’m now ‘old’.
It was meant to be a funny way of accepting a new chapter in my life.
The extreme drama in my photo was me channeling Kris Jenner in a meme I saw of her.
I was looking for a dark twist on being boujee and super dramatic on my birthday.”
The Kris Jenner meme Mila is referring to, is where the Kardashian mum was adorned in a fur scarf with an extravagant suit on, captioned: ‘”I need to stop spending so much money and start living within my means.” Also me:’.
Mila, a Russian with a hilarious sense of humour, revealed the thing she is dreading most about turning 30…and it’s turning 40!
Luckily she is trying to stay positive though and despite the end of her so-called youth, she looks forward to ‘new adventures, travelling, taking care of my two little boys, and whatever else my life brings me’.
‘Just feeling young’ is what Mila will miss most about her 20s, and she made the point that ‘the older you get, the most frowned upon it is to be sarcastic and a little immature’.
If you couldn’t tell from the photo, with her sister Summer, Mila loves to ‘stand out’. She said they always ‘love to laugh and not be so serious in a time where people are so uptight’.
Mila’s sister Summer, who took and uploaded the photos of her 30th birthday, wrote:
“So I asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday and she said “a funeral for my youth” well your wish is my command. HAPPY FUNERAL FOR YOUR YOUTH DAY!!!!
Side note: I know I’m dramatic… but this b**ch takes the cake”
The meme that inspired the ‘funeral’…
Despite the dark funeral for her younger years, Mila did celebrate her 30th a few days early on St Patrick’s Day with some friends and she said it was ‘amazing’.
As for all of you out there who are fearing the 30s, Mila’s advice is to ‘own it’ and to ‘make the most of it and don’t be afraid of still having fun regardless of your age’.
Thank you Mila, we all hear you!
