Flight Delayed For Seven Hours After Passenger Opens Emergency Exit Looking For Toilet

A flight was delayed for seven hours after a passenger opened the emergency exit while looking for the toilet.

According to reports, a woman on the flight from Manchester to Pakistan mistook the plane’s door for the toilet cubicle, causing the emergency chute to be deployed.

Every one of the 37 passengers on board the Boeing 737-340 had to be taken off the flight on Friday night and were stuck at the airport until 5am the next morning.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Airlines told Pakistan-based The Express Tribune an investigation was underway into the bizarre incident.

They added: “The plane was parked on the runway when the airbag chute opened, so there was no threat of any kind.”

Now, flight delays are a part of life. Granted they may not always be the result of such dramatic circumstances, but they do happen.

And while some may get angry and complain to staff about the wait, footage has resurfaced of an old episode of Airline, and one man took it all in his stride.

In the episode, an unnamed passenger, who is the unfortunate victim of a flight delay on the way to Malaga, was interviewed by the show.

The airline are offering delayed passengers refreshment vouchers and a refund on their flight because of a four hour wait.

After speaking to a lady, who in all fairness seemed pretty happy with the offer, they head to the airport bar.

And there he is. The man, the myth, the legend.

When asked about how he feels about the delay, he casually replies:

“I’m pretty chilled out about this actually, I’ve had five pints of Guinness…” so far, standard response from a person trapped in a building with a bar.

And then, he pushes it that bit further: “…and my wife’s just left me for another man, I can’t mention the name – oh Jacqui – I’m ever so sorry about that.”

He continues:

“So actually, the fact that there’s a four hour delay on a flight doesn’t bother me.”

What a guy – not bothered in the slightest. Luckily for the airline, he’s taken both the absconsion of Jacqui AND the four hour flight delay amazingly well, and in the only way one could deal with such a situation – get a bev in.

He wasn’t lying when he said that he’s ‘pretty chilled out’.
